Mrs. Brown’s fifth graders are learning about fables. They visited the library on Tuesday for a presentation on this form of traditional literature. Several fables were shared to illustrate the typical fable’s characteristics: brief story, few characters, simple setting, lesson about human behavior, and a moral stated at the end. Samples from three major sources of fables [Aesop (Greece), the Panchatantra (India), and LaFontaine (France)] were shared.
