More animal research

Mrs. Minchin’s third graders are researching another animal!  This time the student learned about the aardvark.  Did you know the word aardvark means “dirt pig” in Dutch?  The students worked together to complete a graphic organizer about the aardvark’s ecosystem, food, enemies, and how it protects itself.  They used the articles in Heinemann’s First Encyclopedia and PebbleGo‘s animal database.  Now the students are using what they learned to write informational pieces are aardvarks.

More animal research

The students in Mrs. Lansing’s class visited the library for an introduction to research.  They investigated alligators, using the PebbleGo Animal Database and the Heinemann First Encyclopedia as sources.  As a group, the children recorded facts about the alligator’s ecosystem, food, defenses, and enemies on a graphic organizer.  Afterwards, in the classroom, the children used their notes to write about the alligator.
