Aardvark investigation

This week Mrs. Lansing’s class returned to the library to investigate aardvarks.  First they accessed the aardvark article in the PebbleGo Animal database to learn about this interesting African creature.  They recorded facts on graphic organizer for future referenece.  Then the students explored the article about aardvarks in the Heinemann First Encyclopedia.  Again, they recorded new information on their graphic organizer.  The students are using the information they learned and recorded in composing a piece of  informational writing.

More animal research

The students in Mrs. Lansing’s class visited the library for an introduction to research.  They investigated alligators, using the PebbleGo Animal Database and the Heinemann First Encyclopedia as sources.  As a group, the children recorded facts about the alligator’s ecosystem, food, defenses, and enemies on a graphic organizer.  Afterwards, in the classroom, the children used their notes to write about the alligator.
