More dinosaur fun

Danny & DinosaurMrs. McCall’s students learned more about dinosaurs this week.  They read information books about Allosaurus and Iguanodon.  Then they watched a video of the classic story Danny and the Dinosaur  by Syd Hoff.  In the story, a dinosaur comes to life and enjoys a day off from the museum with a boy named Danny.  What fun!

Analogies, anyone?

Last week’s library contest was an analogies quiz.  An analogy is two pairs of words that have the same word relationship.  All the analogies on the quiz fall in the agent/action category.  For example, “Pig is to squeal and dog is to…”  From the list provided, students had to circle “bark,” the answer that best completes the analogy.  If all the analogies were completed correctly, the quiz was entered in a drawing for a stuffed animal.  There is one winner from each grade, even kindergarten!  The lucky winners are Paige (K), Kamber (grade 1), Candace (grade 2), Kyle (grade 3), Samantha (grade 4), Danté (grade 5), and Kamen (grade 6).
